WITH more than 700 bakeries worldwide, Bakers Delight lays claim to the title "World's Most Successful Bakery Franchise".

The Australian-owned company is forecasting another 6 per cent sales increase per bakery in Australia in 2008-2009 and global sales of up to $570 million.

More than 40 per cent of Bakers Delight bakeries are owned by franchisees with more than one site.

The company claims franchisees can expect an average turnover of $700,000 and an operating profit of $120,000.

There are opportunities to buy existing or new Bakers Delight bakeries in locations around Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

The company said successful franchisees demonstrated characteristics such as leadership and communication skills.

They were also team players and passionate about operating a successful business while working hands-on in a bakery.

The company's success is based on a proven business model.

Franchisees are offered ongoing support in the areas of marketing, IT, employment, training, purchasing and finance.

All prospective franchisees undergo a comprehensive Bakers Delight Franchise Training program to ensure all franchisees are equipped with the skills and knowledge to operate a successful franchise bakery.

Bakers Delight has twice won the Franchise Council of Australia Franchise of the Year Award.

It holds almost 15 per cent of the Australian bread market.
