LOAVES of all shapes and sizes, including a Nemo likeness, filled Hamilton TAFE yesterday for the Newcastle Baking Show.
Close to 900 entries were submitted for judging in this year's show, 300 up on last year, head judge Stewart Latter said. The bake-off drew tradespeople and apprentices from around NSW and ACT, and a big Hamilton campus contingent.Entries were judged on the aroma, texture, colouring and volume of the loaf as well as visual appeal."The novelty section is always interesting and lets the bakers express themselves, show their creativity," Mr Latter said.Mr Latter said finding the perfect loaf was difficult.Champion loaf of show was awarded to Hunter River Bakehouse's Troy Arnott for his white loaf and Chris Latter of Goodman Fielder won the novelty section.Winners will go on to the national finals in Sydney in November.
